HCP-Request

Determinate your handicap, to achieve new golf goals.

You grow with every golf challenge. You can find many of those challenges at the Golf Club Eppan.

An essential index in the golf sport ist he handicap, although the calculation can vary from golf place to golf place. The handicap of a golf player describes his/her playing strength. The highest possible handicap is for men and women 36.

Every golf place has his own characteristics that influence the level of difficulty. There are two guidelines for the valuation of the facility.

Course-Rating-Value (CR-Value):
This value of the difficulty level of the golf place, describes the average quantity of hits, what a scratch player (handicap 0) needs to complete at the golf place.

Slope-Value:
This value marks the level of difficulty of the facility, for golfers that are not scratch players. The slope value can be between 55 and 155.

On this site you can ask for your current handicap, to monitor your personal performance and mesure with the handicaps of other golfers.

How can I calculate my handicap?

The EGA (European Golf Association) HC system has been in effect in Italy since April 2003.

However, before we move on to the formulas used to calculate handicaps in golf, we should briefly clarify the difference between two different HCP values: The Playing HCP refers to the value used when playing on the course. This value changes with every tee shot depending on the course and the slope rating. The Exact HCP, on the other hand, is the value rounded to one decimal place, which can change at the end of each tournament.

The playing HCP for the tee in question is calculated using the following formula:

Exact HCP x (Slope Rating / 113) – (CR value) + Par = Playing HCP(*-1)

Example:
Suppose Max Muster, who currently has an Exact HCP of 25.4, plays from a yellow tee during a round at the Lana Golf Course, for which the following values apply: Slope: 130, CR: 70.1, PAR: 70. Calculation: -25.4 × 130/113 – 70.1 + 70 = –29.3 Max Muster therefore plays with a HCP of 29.3 from this tee.

Specification Class Exact HCP Neutral Zone Stableford net points below the neutral zone; add Reduction factor for each point above 36 Stableford net points
1 <4,4 34 – 36 0,1 0,1
2 4,5 – 11,4 33 – 36 0,1 0,2
3 11,5 – 18,4 32 – 36 0,1 0,3
4 18,5 – 26,4 31 – 36 0,1 0,4
5 26,5 – 36,0 30 – 36 0,2 0,5

Max Muster, who currently has a handicap of 25.4 and is therefore in handicap class 4, scores the following points in a tournament:

  • 36 points: His handicap does not change because the score falls within the neutral zone.
  • 27 points: The handicap increases by 0.1 points. His new Exact HCP is therefore now 25.5
  • 39 points: The handicap is reduced by 3 × 0.4 points. Mr. Muster’s Exact HCP is now 24.2.
